Yum (Yoom) A Tibetan Fertility Ceremony

Updated: Aug 19, 2022

Lopsang always knew he would be a lama when he became an adult, because he was the second son born to a family of five boys. In his Tamang culture in the village of Thulo Syabru, it is the second son's duty to go to a monastery. He knew he would earn a living there from collections offered in puja, and he would not burden his family. Most importantly he knew he would honour them by offering his years of service to their Tibetan Buddhist faith.

After ten years living in a monastery in kathmandu where he studied mantras and holy books he returned to his village where he became a renowned seer, a man who could see into the afterlife, and seek the souls of loved ones lost.
